Rafael de Cárdenas
Rafael de Cárdenas is the founder of New York studio Architecture at Large.
Cárdenas studied fashion design at Rhode Island School of Design before completing a masters degree in architecture at University of California in Los Angeles.
Beginning his career as a menswear designer at Calvin Klein, Cárdenas later founded Architecture at Large in 2006. With international projects spanning the United States, Europe and Asia, the studio's clients have included Cartier, Nike, Nordstrom and Rodarte.
Architecture at Large's portfolio includes luxury private residences, restaurants, art galleries, installations and furniture collections. Recent projects include the Broadway Bar inside Nordstom's flagship store, the Amaze installation and Glossier’s New York headquarters.
