After Ancient Sunlight is a carbon-negative raincoat made of marine macroalgae biopolymers.
Fabricated from molecular components found in marine macroalgae, After Ancient Sunlight demonstrates the application of natural carbon-sequestration to the fashion industry.
The raincoat's material is composed of a flexible bio-composite with calibrated mechanical, optical, and hydrophobic properties.
Derived from zero-input macroalgae, processed with renewable energy, and readily compostable, this work points towards a decarbonised future where human society can flourish while having a beneficial impact on the composition of climate by forging a new relationship with the sun.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
