Design firm Curioso has designed a resort that pays homage to Mayan history in Cancun, Mexico.

The resort redefines the Cancun coastal experience, honouring the values intrinsic to this destination. The project was an opportunity to change and elevate the perception of an all-inclusive experience in a place best known for spring-break revelry.

The studio has created an immersive experience that embodies barefoot luxury, while respecting the ideals of a distinctly Mexican destination. Design became a supporting character in this project, highlighting the Yucatan's tranquil, understated and flourishing native landscape.

This project has been longlisted in the hotel and short stay interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
