Biblioteca degli Alberi, or Library of Trees, is an urban park in Milan’s Porta Nuova district that serves as an urban connector, cultural campus and botanic garden.
The green public space refers to a library that offers a collection of garden typologies and trees – a breeding ground for learning, get-togethers, repose and beauty.
Its poignant graphic composition combines linear paths, irregularly-shaped fields, and circular forests to not only connect formerly isolated areas to one another other, but also have local citizens come together.
It is both a contemplative oasis and active play and sports park at the heart of city life.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
