Blink is a circular-designed, plastic-free and locally-produced seating system designed by Richard Hutten.
Blink has been produced by Lensvelt contract furniture for Schiphol airport.
To produce Blink, the old seats at Schiphol were recycled. The old seats became the new seats. The carbon footprint of Blink is 95% less compared with similar products.
The main focus in the design was to create an as long lasting product as possible, but if its life cycle does come to an end, it can be recycled easily again. Only producing nothing is better for the planet.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
