Compound in the Hudson Valley has been designed to blend with the local architectural vernacular in Columbia County, New York.

Three buildings spread over a 75-acre lot are designed to relate to each other and create landscapes between them.

The architecture follows the local construction and material vernacular, but has created spaces more open to the land than local traditional buildings.

Powered by geothermal heat and PV solar panels, the buildings maintain a low-energy footprint, at once part of the land while consuming little of the Earth's non-renewable resources.

This project has been longlisted in the rural house project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
