Objects and Ideograms has developed a method to 3D-print calcium carbonate, which can be used as a scaffold for the growth of coral polyps and other aquatic life.

Coral carbonate utilises its material properties, advanced computational surfaces and forms, novel fabrication, and design to construct a substrate for regrowth and healthy interface with human life. Moving beyond an anthropocentric built environment is critical for our planet as we learn more about the complicated and direct connection between all ecosystems.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
