Cube Berlin is a sculptural office building with a double-skin reflective facade at the centre of Washington Platz in Berlin.
The studio's intention was to explore new ways that the office building could engage with the surrounding public space and the nearby railway station.
The enhanced flexibility of the design allows the building to accommodate temporary structures, shifting tenants, satellite offices, growing and shrinking staff numbers and external networking.
The ventilated double-skin facade provides daylight and offers protection against heat gains, as well as allowing users to benefit from natural ventilation.
The building also includes various smart features, including a centralised app that allows optimisation of access, indoor climate control, maintenance and energy supplies.
This project has been longlisted in the business building category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
