K-Studio has transformed two wine-storage concrete tanks into a hotel that is built directly on the coastline.
The project showcases the strong history and raw beauty of the existing buildings and compliments their brutality with elegant interventions.
New elements in concrete, steel, timber and glass tread lightly, leaving the existing buildings relatively untouched in their strong presence.
The two concrete blocks of tanks are converted into four neat rows of luxurious rooms. Among them, a shallow pool has a cooling effect on the air and reflects light and sound onto the steel drums.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality building category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
