James Corner Field Operations has designed a waterfront park painted with white circles on the grass to encourage social distancing during the pandemic.
Domino Park is a five-acre public park that spans the Domino Sugar Factory site in North Williamsburg, unlocking the East River waterfront for the first time in 160 years.
The park's Artifact Walk showcases its industrial legacy by integrating over 30 large-scale salvaged relics.
Raised above FEMA flood elevations and designed with native plant species that reduce stormwater runoff, the park serves as a first line of defense for the neighborhood against sea-level rise.
Domino Park, which has seen nearly 2.5 million visitors since opening, offers a wide range of activities for the diverse community it serves.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
