Arkitekter uten Grenser, Architectopia and Jan Kazimierz Godzimirski have collaborated to design two classrooms for Eco Moyo Education Centre.

The design consists of horizontal surfaces framed by opaque screens that define the space. The formation of an open plan enables flexibility between teaching, storytelling and play.

Local resources were key in informing the design, ensuring the building contributed to the localised societal-economy, through collaboration with local tradespeople.

Raw materials and hand assembly reduced embodied emissions in the construction process. Design principles encourage rainwater collection, contributing to the school's future resilience.

This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
