Kengo Kuma has designed Endo at the Rotunda, a sushi restaurant made with bare brick walls in London.
Endo at the Rotonda has been conceived as a culinary oasis, a small jewel on the rooftop of the BBC legendary studios, where a genuine contemporary Tokyo dining experience awaits: a Japanese traditional setting overlooking futuristic urban landscapes.
The whole experience is organised around a 22-seat counter, where the skills of the chefs are put on display. Its hinoki cedar, originated in a shrine's forest in the north of Japan, brings the soft touch and gentle fragrance of the traditional sushi experience; its length and geometry stands for the contemporary attitude of the design.
This project has been longlisted in the restaurant interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
