Enhanced Station Initiative by Grimshaw is designed to improve and modernise the passenger experience of New York City’s subway system.
Appointed by the MTA to develop a refreshed design, Grimshaw has revitalised New York City's subways by overhauling aging stations that had fallen into disrepair and were not delivering the passenger experience required. This includes rejuvenating the street levels, ticketing zones and platform levels of each station.
The project aims to accommodate increasing demand and challenge the public perception of New York City’s subway spaces, while creating a station aesthetic that ties the system together.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
