Enrico Sassi Architetto has revitalised Ghitello Mill Park in Switzerland through landscaping, adding a public courtyard and pedestrian pathways.
Mulino del Ghitello is an old mill located at the access point of the Breggia Gorge park – a canyon in the South of the Ticino region – which is a protected natural area and one of the most important geo-topes in Switzerland.
The project, which is part of a larger programme to revitalise the park, aimed to revive this ancient gate through the restoration of the public courtyard.
The creation of a pedestrian and educational path for disabled people serves as a place where they can learn about the geological and rocks composition of the natural landscape of this important site.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
