MU Architecture has built a library and media centre on stilts to minimise its on-site environmental impact.
The library floats like a lantern on the lowland between the old and new city. Placed on a frequently flooded marsh its foundations are raised on stilts to protect the building.
The project is a simple transparent building bathed in light. Two central patios bring the marsh vegetation into the interior and over it is a stretched canvas, where an artist has depicted the local landscape, which creates a space in the city to gather.
This project has been longlisted in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
