Designed by Andrew Donaldson, North Curl Curl Residence is a cliffside home in New South Wales, Australia.
The home has been designed to meet the needs of a growing family, while overcoming the geological issues presented by the inhospitable site.
The residence precisely works with the subtle levels and overt natural sandstone cliff and cave elements of its site. These spectacular formations are drawn within the architecture as an integral part of the composition, fragmenting the volumes, culminating in a theatrical streetscape composition framing local geological history with beautiful materials.
Each space captures panoramic southern views and precious northern sunlight from the rear, articulated in a generous massing that retains both sunlight and views for neighbours.
The public streetscape is a theatrical composition highlighting the sites geological history framed with beautiful materials.
This project has been longlisted in the house interior project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
