Klemens Schillinger has designed a hand-operated LED lamp to be used as a torch.
The lamp is not connected to the power grid. Instead, a hand-operated crank generator allows the user to produce light using their own physical input.
With the help of modern LED technology and a rechargeable battery, the lamp can be used as a modern torch.
One minute of cranking produces light for more than six minutes. The principle is simple: whoever gives something gets something in return.
This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
