Piasek has created a sustainable alternative to disposable plastic takeaway containers ahead of a new green law in France.

France's energy transition law for green growth prohibits disposable plastic tableware as of January 1, 2020. Only disposable tableware made up partly or entirely of biosourced materials may be sold or distributed for takeaway.

What alternative can be offered to the growing number of sushi restaurants than now almost exclusively use plastic materials for there takeaway meals ? These boxes, made of molded cellulose, is a suitable alternative.

Made from 100% recyclable material derived from biomass, it is lightweight, solid, suitable for food use and stackable. It also has the advantage of being modular for each takeaway order.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
