Luo Studio has repurposed abandoned concrete foundations into a community centre in Yuanheguan, China.

The studio extended the deserted foundations and concrete columns of a former residential project, adding a timber-framed upper storey to minimise its load.

The lower storey, which contains offices and conferences spaces, is wrapped in perforated bricks. The ground floor is surrounded by walls of grey and glass bricks.

This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
