Vancouver studio Alyssa.Marcela has designed a range of vessels for cut flowers.

The Peel Vase Series is an exploration of the aesthetic and functional aspects of a vase and how it frames a flower.

Like the peeling of a stem, the cylindrical forms reveal a negative space that simultaneously connects and separates one part from the other.

Materials have been sought out for their qualities of fragility and strength, with the fabrication process bringing about unexpected warmth and honesty.

This project has been longlisted in the homeware design project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
