Batek Architekten has designed a stylish and family-friendly loft conversion in Berlin, Germany.
The apartment has an open living and kitchen area on one side. The other side of the apartment contains a studio, bedrooms and bathrooms contained within a set of wooden house-in-house boxes. Their sloping roofs give the whole interior a village-like character.
The design is aesthetically restrained, through the use of spruce as the defining material. The rough surfaces of the original walls and ceiling have been painted white.
The result is a loft that combines authentic historical atmosphere with contemporary open living.
This project has been longlisted in the apartment interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
