Samira Rathod Design Atelier has designed a series of classrooms that "dance" their way through trees, built in the tobacco fields of Bhadran, Gujarat.
Conceptualised from a child's early scribbles that turned into a series of irregular arches, the school is an experiment with materials and forms.
The design of the school echoes a sense of intrigue and questioning, while offering freedom to the forming minds in their early years.
The design features the use of terracotta, used on the bricks on the facade, on the floor, the roof, and has been sourced from a local kiln in the area.
This project has been longlisted in the civic building category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
