Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2020 architect of the year, SO-IL is an international architecture and design firm based in New York, founded by Jing Liu and Florian Idenburg in 2008.

Jing Liu and Florian Idenburg lead SO–IL on a myriad of projects across countries and cultures. The studio comprises a team that speaks more than a dozen languages.

The firm believes that through deep collaboration, architecture can reconnect communities to their environments. In an increasingly digitised world, SO-IL's architecture incorporates innovative physical materials that follow the specific scale and conceptual grounding of each project.

The studio has designed a paradigm-shifting museum in California, unique art spaces in Asia, a revitalised public square in Paris, and affordable housing in Mexico.

SO-IL has been longlisted in the architect of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
