Suspended Eco-Trail is a landscape attraction in Moscow that provides access to nature in the middle of a metropolis.
The trail is built amongst centuries-old oak trees in the Sheremetyevo Forest. The 500-meter hiking trail allows the visitors to rediscover the forest and enjoy the nature from a height of up to eight meters above ground.
The trail is designed to preserve the ecosystem and avoid disturbing any trees by not using heavy machinery or large-scale equipment. This has ensured that the nesting of the birds remains uninterrupted and the historic Sheremetyevo oak trees are not damaged.
The trail is made from hyperboloid support beams, assembled from thin metal tubes in order to reduce obstruction of the natural beauty of the oak forest. Its pedestrian walkways are designed to carefully fit the trail into the unique landscape and give visitors the unique experience of being in harmony with nature.
This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
