Landprocess has created a cascading rooftop farm on top of Thammasat University in Thailand, designed to mimic mountainous terrains.
Today, urbanisation has rapidly consumed agricultural lands, pushing food sources away from cities. By 2050, 80 percent of the world’s population will live in cities. To ensure global food security, and environmental health, cities must utilise wasted spaces and its runoff to produce food efficiently.
Repurposing 236,806 square-feet of wasted rooftop, the landscape architect envisions and implements a climate solution with Asia’s largest organic rooftop farm—Thammasat Urban Rooftop Farm (TURF).
Integrating modern landscape architecture with the ingenuity of rice terraces, TURF creates an inclusive circular economy, sustainable food production, renewable energy, water management and public space for all.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
