UNbuffer is a graphic-design project exploring the buffer zone that has divided the island of Cyprus for more than five decades.
The Green Line is essentially a ceasefire line, patrolled by the UN peace-keeping force and constituting constant reminder and remainder of conflict.
Without challenging the presence of the UN force as essential for the safeguarding of peace on the island, this project – part of the diversity and inclusion research exhibition – aims instead in communicating a message of peace, the end of Turkish occupation and the reunification of the island.
This project has been longlisted in the graphic design category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
