Studio Mesh has created recyclable raingear woven from second-life materials, designed to be easily dismantled for recycling.

It consists of recycled polyester made from pre and post-consumer waste, along with recycled zippers, cords and breathable waterproof coating.

Unlike raincoats, which cannot be worn over thick winter jackets, Urbanella can be worn over anything with uncompromising elegance.

Umbrellas are by far the most convenient all season raingear, but are not easily recycled and often end up in landfills. Urbanella offers a much-needed stylish, convenient and sustainable alternative for urban rains.

This project has been longlisted in the wearable design project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
