Architecture studio 3Deluxe has created a plaza designed to reflect the natural flows of movement of visitors in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The plaza features staggered seating and steps, gently-sloping green spaces and water features that connect the different height levels of the square.
This structuring gives rise to pathways, creating natural islands that are enlivened in different ways: a green lawn for sunbathing, a skatepark, a programmed fountain complex and an event venue.
Cyclists, skaters and scooters alike can cruise organically through the curved levels, which are embedded with reflective spaces, water features, cafes and restaurants.
This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
