VAAS is a series of jewellery designed by Monique Péanhas, which uses ancient materials, repurposed stones and 100 percent recycled metals.
Inspired by the intersection of Earth and cosmos, this series of sustainable fine jewellery features ancient materials of the deep Earth, including approximately 150 million-year-old fossilised dinosaur bone, juxtaposed with extraterrestrial elements of the universe, including 3.6 billion-year-old fragments of the moon and 4.6 billion-year-old meteorite specimens from the Asteroid Belt.
These works create a dialogue around temporality and the implications of our interactions with the natural world. Each piece is handmade by master craftsmen in New York City and is set exclusively in 100 percent recycled precious metals, featuring antique and repurposed diamonds.
This project has been longlisted in the wearable design project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
