Designed by K-Studio, Villa Mandra is a holiday home in Mykonos that frames the surrounding landscape.
Inspired by the complexity of the traditional island vernacular, the studio reduced the architecture to small whitewashed volumes.
A third of stone was dug from the site and built around a courtyard living area, covered by an expansive, lightweight pergola. This becomes the core of the house, which is seamlessly connected to the enclosed volumes.
Beneath are the bedrooms that enjoy uninterrupted sea views.
This project has been longlisted in the rural house project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
