Atelier Alter has designed Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum in China's coastal city Xiamen.
The studio was tasked with creating a museum that would house the stone manufacturers fossils.
This project transformed the principal of stone dissection, which is specific to stone-mining, into a spatial division mechanism, to cut the cubical space accordingly.
The project sticks to only one architecture element — the wall — to maintain consistency and authenticity.
This project has been longlisted in the civic and cultural interior project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
