Design studio IKG has designed a flagship bookstore for YJY Maike Centre in Xi'an, China.

The contemporary bookstore has been designed with the concept of combining a library and gallery, and features an atrium that houses a curved staircase and light installations.

Incorporating the characteristics of this site and its luxurious surroundings, including a Grand Hyatt hotel on the upper levels, the studio combined old and new by integrating the layout of the palace surroundings with contemporary art.

This project has been longlisted in the large retail interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
