Public vote winner for rural house of the year: No Footprint House has been designed to complement its natural surroundings in Costa Rica and minimise the impact of construction.

The first prototype of No Footprint House is based on a systemic component design for sustainable residential typologies, the first of its kind in Central America.

Placed in a humid tropical climate, the building responds to its surrounding habitat by passive climate control through natural ventilation and solar shading. The project seeks for integral sustainability in terms of its environmental, economic, social and spatial performance.
