Public vote winner for small interior of the year: Writer's Studio is a poet's retreat on a forested property in Connecticut.
With apparent simplicity, this tiny building belies its complexity, its exacting craftsmanship of every edge, corner and surface.
Fieldstone walls, as if the ruins of an abandoned spring house, have been repurposed with steel and glass, creating a self-sufficient shelter.
Fumed oak planks form the floors and ceilings. 1,700 volumes of poetry lead to the glass writing room, which is cantilevered high above a ravine.
The studio is a retreat for solace.
