Shortlisted for rural house of the year at Dezeen Awards 2020, Casa Naila is a holiday home on the coast of Oaxaca, comprising four blocks surrounding a cross-shaped patio.
The house, which is named after a traditional song from the region of Oaxaca, is located along the Mexican coast, jutting out into the Pacific Ocean which gives the home scenic sea views.
The studio built four buildings around a cross-shaped patio, taking into consideration the sunny weather, which makes the outside space the social and entertainment area.
The result is a space that accomplishes one of the most noble purposes of architecture: to experience a bond between the inhabitant and the site.
