Shortlisted for infrastructure project of the year at Dezeen Awards 2020, Chiswick Park Footbridge is a three-span arched structure providing an important new pedestrian link between Chiswick Business Park and the surrounding community.
The bridge is fully accessible to all and spans a roadway, car park, rail line and the peak of the Gunnersbury Triangle Nature Reserve, providing a safe and engaging route instead of the previous lengthy mixture of urban obstacles.
This context, and a required lifespan of 120 years, informed the design and material choice, which are driven by pedestrian experience, quality, maximum efficiency and minimal maintenance; the latter critical in the public realm.
