Shortlisted for hotel and short stay interior of the year at Dezeen Awards 2020, Escondido Oaxaca Hotel is a small boutique hotel in Mexico, with interiors designed by Decada and Carlos Couturier.

The firm's aim was to capture a feeling of timelessness, anchored in an authentic nineteenth-century Oaxacan house.

The studio sourced legendary local weavers and ceramists living in nearby villages, shopped at local antique shops, and worked with young Mexican designers and craftsmen, whose clean lines contributed to a sense of serenity, while paying tribute to the brutalist architecture of Alberto Kalach who transformed the old house.
