Shortlisted for exhibition design of the year at Dezeen Awards 2020, Weird Sensation Feels Good is an exhibition that explores the phenomenon of ASMR, a physical sensation of euphoria or calm in response to visual, sensory and auditory stimulus.
Weird Sensation Feels Good is an attempt to synthesise the creative field of ASMR and its rich material world into a legible spatial language.
Drawing inspiration from traditional spa cultures, flowing water is replaced by streams of contemporary media, aiming to create an atmosphere of safety and privacy in public, in which multiple people can be triggered to relax simultaneously.
The exhibition, therefore, becomes a prototype for a new kind of public synthetic spa, offering an emergent form of relaxation and catering to the current concerns of the need to avoid physical touch and shared spaces.
