Chrissa Amuah
Chrissa Amuah is founder and creative director of Adinkra-inspired luxury homeware and interiors brand AMWA Designs.
Born and raised in London, with heritage stemming from Ghana, Togo and Benin, Amuah describes living with a sense of duality, drawing most of her design inspiration from Ghana.
Following an international debut at Milan design week 2015, Amuah has gained global recognition with press features including Elle Décor Departures magazine and FT’s How To Spend It. Black British Business Awards 2017 recognised Amuah as a rising star in the consumer and luxury category.
Amuah also established AFRICA BY DESIGN, intended to showcase and celebrate Africa’s design talent. AFRICA BY DESIGN works to create international commercial opportunities for featured designers. Since its launch in 2017, it has exhibited in five cities across four continents.
In March 2018, she was invited by Sotheby’s to moderate African Art & Design: Beyond A Trend, a conversation exploring the significance of African art and design.
