Eva Sonaike
Eva Sonaike creates luxury home textiles and soft furnishings, drawing on her Nigerian roots and childhood in Germany to inspire her work, resulting in a vibrant, yet elegant West-African aesthetic.
Her ethos is 'Bringing Colour to Life’, and she believes in hand finishing, distinct designs and high quality manufacturing.
The creative director has an MA in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion, where she specialised in contemporary African fashion and textiles. She then worked in editorial for six years for titles such as German Elle, InStyle and Focus.
Elements of both Nigerian and German culture are evident in her work, which celebrates both colourful African textile traditions and European antique and mid-century furniture.
Driven by her passion for African fabrics and interior design, she set up her company in 2009 with the aim to bring the vibrancy of African colours and aesthetics to the luxury home-décor and interior design market.
Sonaike's products have appeared in prestigious stores across the globe such as Liberty, Fenwick of Bond Street, Amara and Selfridges in London, Globus in Switzerland, Temple Muse and Alara in Lagos, ABC Carpet & Home in New York and Indigo Living in Hong Kong and Duba.
Eva and her products are widely featured in the press, and her company has collaborated with firms and projects such as Kanuhura Resort in the Maldives (HBA), Hubert Zandberg Interiors and Palecek Hospitality.
