Julie Eizenberg
California-based architect Julie Eizenberg, is a founding principal of KoningEizenberg Architecture.
With founding partner Hank Koning, Eizenberg received the 2012 AIA Gold Medal and the 2019 Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal. In 2020 Architectural Record’s Women in Architecture Awards included her as the year’s design leader.
A teacher and lecturer, Eizenberg holds an honorary Ph.D. in architecture from the University of Melbourne. Her monographs, including “Architecture isn’t just for special occasions” 2006 and “Urban Hallucinations” 2017, offer insight into the humanist ideals of the practice.
Recent projects include 28th Street Supportive Housing, Pico Branch Library, Geffen Academy at UCLA, MuseumLab, Arroyo Affordable Housing, and the Student Pavilion at University of Melbourne currently in construction.
