Kwangho Lee
Designer Kwangho Lee is founder of Seoul-based studio Kwangho Lee Office.
Kwangho Lee was born in 1981 and grew up in a small city next to Seoul, South Korea. He graduated in 2007 from Hongik University in Seoul, majoring in metal art & design.
Lee began making things by hand as a child since his grandfather, a farmer, hand-made daily household goods from natural materials.
Today Lee develops his practice by joining different materials. He explains how his work tries to show the instant moment of union between materials.
In 2009 Lee was nominated for jury's selection of Designer of The Future at Design Miami/Basel, was selected as Artist of The Year 2011 by the Korean Ministry of Culture and Young Craftsman of The Year by Yeol-a society for Korean cultural heritage in 2013.
His work has been displayed at Commissaires, Johnson Trading Gallery, Victor Hunt, Karena Schuessler, Clear Gallery & Edition, Gallery Seomi, along with group projects and international exhibitions such as Design Miami/Basel, and Design Days Dubai.
Lee's work is also part of the permanent collection at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
