Amidst a bright mallscape, the Aesop Worldmall store beckons visitors quietly into its wooden grotto.
Unlike its well-lit neighbours opening directly onto the main corridor, Aesop's louver facade steps back in an understated statement. The dramatic 11m slope of a traditional Korean roof beckons visitors in with Aesop’s signature smells and an oasis where wood seating evokes traditional courtyard benches inviting neighbours to stay and sample their products, handwashing, and tea. Embracing the brand’s signature palette and the opportunity to create a place of gathering from local history, Aesop’s Jamsil store slows time and makes space to dwell.
This project has been longlisted in the small retail interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
