Co-Working @ Bermonds Locke occupies the ground floor of a 143-bedroom Apartment Hotel in Bermondsey, London.
Eschewing traditional expectations of co-working spaces, the space is designed as a slice of the Californian desert. A series of narrative tropes form a surreal, cinematic interior with a focus on wellbeing and eco-consciousness.
Taking a cue from the ad-hoc desert cabins of California's Joshua tree, humble construction site materials are repurposed to form generous workspaces while reducing the waste involved in retrofitting.
A curated planting design evokes the annual wildflower blooms of the Mojave Desert, using Biophilic principles to enhance the work environment.
This project has been longlisted in the small workspace interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
