Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2021 emerging design studio of the year, Samy Rio Studio is a design studio based in the south of France.
Since opening my studio in 2015 combining craft and industry is not only a question of scaling up quality but also maintaining control over the myriad of sustainable objects I develop with many different partners.

Treading a fine line between these normally polarised modes of production, especially within the European context, the studio is able to reinvigorate otherwise mired artisanal traditions while also taking mass production to the task. I implement both my foundational training as a cabinetmaker and the latest technologies to elucidate on how this new hybrid approach is tenable.

This project has been longlisted in the emerging design studio of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
