The Feminised Protein project is a study into the use of milk proteins as a material for the handcrafted production of bespoke sculptural objects.
Surplus milk is sourced from a small organic dairy farm in Sussex - skimmed milk being a bi-product of the butter making process. Feminised Protein is a term used to address the exploitation of female animals reproductive cycles to produce food on a mass scale. By turning this fraught liquid into solid form, I produce objects as homage to the femininity, beauty, and tension of milk.
This project has been longlisted in the homeware design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
