2XJ Architects has designed a two-storey family apartment called Greetings from Rome in the old town of Vilnius, Lithuania.
The inevitability of the inherited structural wall and the associative arched image of the colosseum became the ideological axis of the young family's apartment project in Vilnius Old Town.
It was decided to highlight the wall and build a home around it, separating apartment into social and private spaces. Natural travertine stone was used to reinforce the concept, and its role in this project is very pronounced. A striking motif of the arch and travertine stone became like a fragment of the Colosseum. Timeless materials and shapes were used to create an equivalent counterweight to the main element.
This project has been longlisted in the apartment interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
