Yair Neuman has designed and made a lighting collection made from waste plastic lenses.
Yair Neuman worked with Cubitts' lenses for the Lens Light collection, which is made entirely from the eyewear brand's waste plastic. Worldwide, millions of lenses are discarded every day. Yair Neuman developed new material DelerexTM, from this waste, showcased in the Lens Light collection.
Starting from the pattern arrangement, followed by cross layering and polishing, the design takes shape. To be able to keep the shape of the lenses and also turn them into a structure that is strong enough to support itself is a challenge.
This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
