Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2021 emerging design studio of the year, Mario Tsai Studio, founded in Hangzhou in 2014, is a research-based design studio that prides itself on innovative thinking to produce sustainable designs.
Unconstrained by conventional methods, the studio uses rigorous logic coupled with a fluid sense of artistry to present our work, whether in the form of products, installations, strategies or exhibitions.

Born in Hubei, Mario Tsai studied at Beijing Forestry University and worked as a designer/engineer at a state-owned furniture manufacturer before becoming independent. He exhibited at Ambiente Frankfurt, Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and debut in Milan Design Week with solo exhibition ‘From the Structures’ in 2019.

This project has been longlisted in the emerging design studio of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
