Ox in the Box is a festive gift set by Fictionist Studio.

It was specially designed and handcrafted to usher in the upcoming lunar new year of 2021 as a self-promotional item for the studio.

2021 marks the year of the ox, a headstrong and driven animal that Fictionist Studio showcased as a spin-off of the "jack-in-a-box" format and mechanism. The outer box sports a barn house silhouette and holds a slim box, which upon opening, an ox leaps out into a 3D form.

The ox boasts custom-drawn Chinese typography on all its facets set in rainbow holographic foil printing.

This project has been longlisted in the graphic design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
